The Republican Pledge to The United States contains repealing health care reform. Their side was picked by the public. This is according to the GOP. There is more opposition from the health care law now. Americans do not know what the health care law entails either. Republicans are hoping that they can use this to their advantage. However, besides a majority in Congress, Republicans cannot escape the presidential veto. Provisions in the health care bill started on September 23. It has already begun. People may choose they like protections like free preventive care and coverage for pre-existing conditions.
Politics promises too much to America
. Derek Thompson at the Atlantic said it is doubtful Republicans will take the Senate. Even if they do, Obama will veto anything that weakens health care reform. Even if the GOP changes the bill so not every person to have health insurance, it could backfire. Thompson sincerely believes this. People will avoid getting insurance until they have to have it. Next, with a pre-existing condition, they’ll sign up for health insurance that can’t be denied. Rates would end up going higher for insurance businesses. the Medicaid expansion is not going to be defunded. If it does, millions will lose health care. Reversing the cuts for Medicare will mean millions of Americans will not get the medical care that money was being saved for.
Knowing nothing about the health care reform creates more opposition
Republicans have promised an appeal as a result of the polls that have shown up. Rasmussen Report did a survey of United States of America voters. Only 61 percent “somewhat” favor repeal. That is what is called measured opposition. Of measured opposition, it is the highest it has been since late May. Kavita Pavel at CNN explains some things. She claims the public is simply confused about things. Only 14 percent knew the law’s first provisions began on September 23. This is as outlined by a survey she looked at most recently by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners. Half didn’t even know what was part of the health care reform. They did not know that free preventive care came with it. Even less could identify any of the law’s protections that went into effect September 23. Kavita also mentioned an Associated Press poll finding that 25 percent of Americans bought the falsehood that a government panel would make decisions about their health care.
No truths coming out in medical care reform discussion
A health care reform is fiscally irresponsible, states Republicans. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services estimates that health care will cost two-thirds more than it does now by 2019–with or without health care reform. Insurance company abuses will end with the new law although curbing spending wasn’t part of the law, reports USA Today. The law will make health care insurance more accessible though. 32.5 million more can be able to get it. USA Today said what health care reform needs is more solutions to keep health care costs from increasing at unsustainable rates. An honest discussion would need to be had between Republicans and Democrats. This would be about the health care reform. Don’t hold your breath.
