The Republican Pledge to The United States contains repealing health care reform. Their side was picked by the public. This is according to the GOP. There is more opposition from the health care law now. Americans do not know what the health care law entails either. Republicans are hoping that they can use this to their advantage. However, besides a majority in Congress, Republicans cannot escape the presidential veto. Provisions in the health care bill started on September 23. It has already begun. People may choose they like protections like free preventive care and coverage for pre-existing conditions.
Politics promises too much to America
. Derek Thompson at the Atlantic gave his ideas about it. He thinks that Republicans will not be taking Senate probably. Even if they do, Obama will veto anything that weakens health care reform. Even if the GOP changes the bill so not everybody is needed to have medical insurance, it could backfire. Thompson sincerely believes this. People won’t get insurance until they need it, and then they have pre-existing conditions businesses cannot reject them for. Rates would end up going higher for insurance businesses. If Republicans make an effort to defund Medicaid expansion, they’ll take away medical care from millions. Reversing the cuts for Medicare will mean millions of Americans will not get the medical care that money was being saved for.
Public continues to be ignorant of health care reform
Some polls have emboldened Republicans to make the promise of repeal. A Rasmussen Reports survey showed that 61 percent of likely United States of America voters “somewhat” favor fight. That is what is called measured opposition. Of measured opposition, it is the highest it has been since late May. Kavita Pavel at CNN explains some things. She says the public is simply confused about things. Only 14 percent knew the law’s first provisions began on September 23. This is according to a survey she looked at recently by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners. Less than half knew health care reform allowed them free preventive care. Less knew what the protections that went into effect September 23 were. 25 percent of Americans thought that their health care would be decided by a government panel as outlined by an Associated Press poll, states Kavita.
Unlikely anyone will discuss medical care reform honestly
A health care reform is fiscally irresponsible, claims Republicans. There is going to be a two-thirds increase in health care by 2019, whether or not the health care reform happens. This comes from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. USA Today reports that while the law in its present form is not projected to curb spending, it does end insurance company abuses. The law will make medical insurance more accessible though. 32.5 million more people could be able to get it. USA Today said what health care reform needs is more solutions to keep health care costs from increasing at unsustainable rates. Republicans and Democrats will have to start talking about the health care reform more honestly though. Don’t hold your breath.
